The BSSH hosts an annual conference which gives members the opportunity to hear new research and discuss the history of sport.

COVID-19 Update: BSSH Conference 2020 sessions to be held virtually w/c 24 August 2020. In-person conference, hosted at St Mary's, postponed to August 2021.

We are currently developing plans for a series of online sessions to be held w/c 24 August 2020 - please stay tuned for further details!

The original venue for the 2020 Conference - St Mary's University, Twickenham - will host in 2021 (Thursday 26 and Friday 27 August 2021).

We take pride in providing a platform for rigorous research in a friendly and supportive atmosphere, and welcome contributions from postgraduate students and ECRs. Postgraduate students who present at the conference are given free registration, and are warmly invited to consider submitting papers for the Richard Cox prize. [Please note, this will not be running in 2020.]

If you have already submitted abstracts for this year's conference, we very much hope that you will be able to join us in 2021, and we warmly invite you to re-submit your abstract (if you wish) when we open the Call for Papers in early 2021.

We wish everyone a safe and healthy 2020 and look forward to getting together in 2021.
