Book reviews for Sport in History are commissioned by the Reviews Editor, Dr Lisa Taylor. If you are interested in reviewing a text for Sport in History, please contact Lisa directly. We do not accept unsolicited reviews.
Reviews are usually in the range of 800-1,000 words long, and should offer a summary of the author's key arguments and findings, dicussion of the structure of the text, and locate it in the relevant literature. Reviewers should question how the text interacts with what is already in the field and what it contributes. They should also highlight areas in which they think it is less successful, and critique any missed opportunities.
The turnaround time is ordinarily six months from the text being sent out.
