The Sporting Inequalities Award rewards outstanding work in one of the following under-researched areas:
- Sport and individuals/communities from underrepresented ethnicities
- Sport and LGBTQ+ individuals/communities
- Women and sport
- Disability and sport
Papers should be largely focused on the British context. Academics at all career stages are eligible for the award. The award will be based on the best paper presented on the above topics at the annual conference. There is no need to apply beforehand, as a panel of judges will watch relevant papers and make a decision.
The winning paper will be awarded £200, and the researcher will be invited to submit their paper to the Society’s peer-reviewed journal, Sport in History.
