A new exhibition celebrating 120 years of Carlisle Utd FC has just opened at the city's Tullie House Museum. The exhibition titled 'Backing the Blues' follows the club's history from its name change from Shaddongate Utd in 1904 to the present and features pictures, trophies and fan memorabilia. Much of the exhibition was produced with support from the University of Cumbria's Media and Arts department which contributed a reconstruction of United's commentary box as a tribute to Radio Cumbria's legendary broadcaster, the late Derek Lacey.
The exhibition also features the contribution of Tracy Gannon who set up Carlisle United's women's section in 1990 and has had numerous successes as club manager including the Cumberland County Cup. Also featured is artwork from BSSH member Stuart Gibbs of Annie Anderson a munitionette from HM Gretna who played on Carlisle's ground, Brunton Park in 1917. The exhibition runs until 10 November 2024.
